Elias BeanElias Bean is a Muslim biracial genderfuck living in Washington D.C., who firmly believes that art cannot exist outside of activism. They strive to highlight marginalised stories and experiences through artistic expression. Their main medium is digital photography and video, but are well-versed in film and darkroom techniques as well. They especially enjoy screenprinting back into photographs.
Elias moonlights as a sex educator. Their idea of sex education focuses on the intersection of gender, race, and religion. They received their Master’s in Photography from Howard University, where they focused on Muslim Women’s sexuality/sexual experience. They have taught kink workshops, as well as a de-gendered sex education course for pledge members of their Queer and Ally sorority, Gamma Rho Lambda. Before attending Howard, Elias received a B.A. in Art as well as a B.A. in Communications from the University of Houston and worked at the LGBT center there. They are passionate about building a sex and kink positive Muslim community. |
